Simplified Transition from WMS2 to WMS3

The upgrade procedure from rel20mu8 to rel380 does not require the transitional repository (rel20_30) any longer.
 
Just three simple steps to perform the upgrade procedure:

  1. Upgrade the PBX to the latest WMS 2.x version using the repository rel20mu8
  2. Upgrade the devices’ firmware to the latest version (click “Configure/Sync”)
  3. Upgrade the PBX to the latest WMS 3.80.x version using the repository rel380

 
Upgrade notes:

  • License “Upgrade license WMS2 to WMS3″ must be enabled on the PBX
  • WMS Network is not possible between WMS2 and WMS3, so all the PBXs in the network must be upgraded to WMS3; start with upgrading the Master PBX
  • After the upgrade is done, recheck your Dialplan configuration, Call groups and Paging groups
  • Communication on upgrading Hotel PBXs (WGWH) will follow later this month

 
We would like to remind you that WMS version 3.80.x includes over 100 improvements and fixes, and we encourage our Partners to perform the transition to experience the new quality of the Wildix system.

Web ZD and CDR-View on Chrome 42

Browser plugins are disabled by default on the new Google Chrome 42 version.
In case you are using Google Chrome 42, follow the steps described below, to ensure the correct functioning of Web Zero Distance and CDR-View.
 
Note: In case you are using Web Zero Distance under Microsoft Windows, you don’t need to make any changes, just update Web Zero Distance to the latest verion (2.0.7) from Wildix Collaboration.
 

  1. Open your Chrome browser and copy the following address into the URL: chrome://flags/#enable-npapi
  2. Click “Enable” under the line “Enable NPAPI” which is highlighted
  3. Relaunch your browser (Click “Relaunch now” at the bottom of the page)

Web Zero Distance on Windows 10

The new Microsoft Windows 10 comes with the new Microsoft Edge web browser.

We would like to inform you that Microsoft Edge browser does not support Web Zero Distance, however you can use Wildix Web Zero Distance on Internet Explorer 11 (which is also inlcuded into Windows 10) or on Mozilla Firefox.

Changes in Kite Policy

In October 2015 changes in Kite Licence policy come into action.

The previous free-use Kite service policy expires in September 2015.

Starting from the 1st of October 2015 Wildix Kite service will be available only on the PBXs with the active Kite license (or Engage Service enabled).

To continue using Wildix Kite, make sure that Kite license or Engage service is enabled on your PBXs.

New Zero Distance softphone based on WebRTC

The 45 version of Google Chrome has been released

As promised, we have developed the new version of Zero Distance softphone, which does not need plug-ins, the first softphone based on WebRTC.

The new softphone has been automatically enabled in Wildix Collaboration with the release of the Google Chrome browser version 45.

IMPORTANT: To enable a new softphone, upgrade the PBX to the latest rel380 version!

You can still use Zero Distance in other browsers.

Advantages:

  • Pure WebRTC
  • Support for Windows 64 bits / Linux / Mac OS
  • Better audio experience thanks to WebRTC

SIP Video Call

Due to the fact that the new version of Chrome does not support H.264, the new softphone has several limitations impacting SIP video call, making it impossible to start a video call from Google Chrome to iOS and Android applications, and to other devices such as video door-phones.

You can use H.264 video on WP600A and on Zero Distance in a browser that supports plug-ins (such as Firefox).

G.729

Chrome does not support G.729 codec, however in case of ATTENDED transfer from trunk, the system performs transcoding.

New PBXs can support approximately 15 concurrent calls.

Desktop Sharing under Windows and CDR-View

Since new Chrome does not support Java plug-ins, please use Mozilla Firefox browser for CDR-View and for Desktop Sharing on Windows OS.
(For CDR-View under Mac OS X you can also use Safari).

We plan to add support for CDR-View in Chrome in late October.
The Desktop Sharing component for Chrome under Windows will be released this September.

To summarize:

  • In case you have upgraded your PBX to the latest version, the new Zero Distance softphone for Chrome is already enabled in Wildix Collaboration
  • New softphone allows video calls between browsers supporting WebRTC (you can use H.264 video on devices and in browsers, supporting this codec)
  • For the moment it is necessary to use Firefox browser for Screen Sharing on Windows and for CDR-View (for CDR-View under Mac OS X it’s also possible to use Safari)
  • G.729 calls are not supported in Chrome browser (unless performed attended transfer of a G.729 call from trunk: in this situation transcoding is performed)

We would like to inform you that Microsoft Edge browser does not support Web Zero Distance, however you can use Wildix Web Zero Distance on Internet Explorer 11 (which is also inlcuded into Windows 10) or on Mozilla Firefox.

Changes in Kite Policy

In October 2015 changes in Kite Licence policy come into action.

The previous free-use Kite service policy expires in September 2015.

Starting from the 1st of October 2015 Wildix Kite service will be available only on the PBXs with the active Kite license (or Engage Service enabled).

To continue using Wildix Kite, make sure that Kite license or Engage service is enabled on your PBXs.
